After 19 years with Franklin Templeton Canada, Duane Green has departed as chairman, president and CEO.

Green started with Franklin Templeton Canada as a vice-president in 2004 and held successively senior roles. He had been president and CEO since 2017.

“The firm is grateful for his many contributions throughout his tenure with Franklin Templeton Canada,” a release stated.

As of Nov. 6, Andrew Ashton, head of Americas (ex-US) distribution, is chairman of Franklin Templeton Canada in addition to his current role. Ashton has been with Franklin Templeton for 20 years and has served as a director of Franklin Templeton Canada since 2017.

Dennis Tew was promoted from head of retail sales, Canada, to an expanded role as head of sales for the country, and will report directly to Ashton.

In May, Franklin Templeton announced it was purchasing U.S.-based asset manager Putnam Investments from Great-West Lifeco Inc. for about US$1.0 billion. The deal is expected to close this quarter, pending fund shareholder approval.

“I am excited to be taking on this expanded role in Canada, at a time when the firm is poised for growth, and as we continue to introduce new capabilities from our specialist investment managers,” Ashton said in the release.
